Show TRREE RAILROAD MEN KILLED IN WRECK NEAR SPARKS In a head;on collision yesterday at Hafed siding, a short distance east of Sparks, three men were killed and serious property damage to equipment resulted. Engineer L. Rasmussen, Firoman T. F. Griffin and Brakeman Ed House were the. three men killed. The accident happened at the east end of the siding at Hafed. Train 311, wost bound, and an extra train of fruit and merchandise, going ea3t, collided, col-lided, instantly killing the three men. Fifteen cars of freight were destroyed de-stroyed later, when tho wreckage-caught wreckage-caught fire. The track has been cleared and traJns are again running on schedule. The cause of the disaster has not beon learned. A board of inquiry has been appointed and tho wreck will be fully investigated tomorrow. Conductor R. J. Ewlng of tho east-bound east-bound train said that as his train rounded tho curve approaching Hafed, It crashed into the other train, which was not entirely In the clear. The wreck dolayed passenger trains Into Ogden several hours. Trains 2, 110 and 20, due to arrive here during the afternoon, will be combined Into one train, which Is scheduled to arrive ar-rive at midnight. |
