Show TIIEI1S RELEASED 10 ROTH FORGED TO PAV COSTS "Strong are the tie? of friendship," was the comment of an auditor in the police court this morning as he heard George Roth reverse the testimony he had presented in a complaint he had sworn out against Ray Travers. Fur-' ther than this, when his testimony proved a factor in obtaining Travels' acquittal, he shouldered the costs of line case, approximately , ., The two men were rooming together a few nights ago at a local hotel, when Travers. it was alleged, decamped with some of his friend's money. Roth immediately swore out a complaint for his arrest and h was captured in Salt Lake City. Deiecthe Robert Chambers Cham-bers made a trip to Salt Lake and returned re-turned Travers to Ogden for trial. The ca6e was brought up in court this morning and the defendant de clared the money taken was from a fund in which he had a joint interest with Roth. Roth corroborated this testimony, completed reversing the testimony he gave the officers as a cause of action. Travers was then acquitted on the charge of petit larceny lar-ceny and Judge G. S Barker, after scoring Roth for his reprehensible conduct con-duct in taking up the time of the authorities au-thorities without cause, ordered him to pay the costs of the case. Enoch Richards was found gr.il ty of passing a worthless check on the G H. Tribe Liquor company and was fined $25. The check was for $10 and was drawn on the Thatcher Brothers bank of Logan. |
