If there isn't an ordinance compelling people who hat ' houses ait'g close to ths sidewalk to install drain pipes, there should be, and tWat these two nuisances should be removed is made emphatic in the number of accidents that have occurred thus far this year. Let us have clean sidewalks so that walking in Bingham Canyon will be safe during the winter months. 4 SIDEWALKS It has been said that (he're are two kinds of people In this world: the kind that keep their sidewalks clean, and the kind that don't. Bingham Canyon has a few of the former and many of the latter. According to of-ficials at the city hall, there is an ordinance concerning the keeping of sidewalks free from snow and ice, al-though it has been said that the ord-inance has never been put into action. Thus far, this year, there has been no less than six accidents, according to physicians, one person receiving a broken bone, as the result of a fall, and the others receiving painful in-juries. It is not a matter for this, or any other paper to try and dictate to the powers that be relative to the enforce-ment of the clean sidewalk ordinance, but it is the duty of this and every other paper fc let the community know that there IS such an ordinance, and that it is NOT being enforced. Many of the houses of Bingham Canyon are set close to the street and when there is a snow ,the water runs directly upon the sidewalk below. This constant dripping 1 of water throughout a warm day leads to plen-ty of ice in the evening, and as far as can be learned, this condition caus-ed most of the accidents. A drain pipe along the 'edge of the roof, al-lowing the water to drain to the street would eliminate this dangerous con- - "Raining Cats and 0090 ' Old myths from Norway vatatn weird tale of the Influence of eats and dogs on the weather. All roads lead to Grantsville ac-cording to the basket ball fans of Bingham Canyon, who are unanimous in declaring they will follow the high school team this evening to urge them on in keeping their slate clean. Coach McMullin is reluctant as to his chances, as he declares that Grantsville always has a tough team to represent its high school, and they are close to unbeatable on their own floor. Be that as it may, the boys fight-ing for the blue and white are in the pink of condition, and will go to Grantsville this evening with a grom determination to annex the contest. Although no line up has been given out, the dope calls for Viette and Brady to start at forward, Allias at center, and Rimby and Patten at guard. With the team practicing each evening the machine is fast rounding j into championship form, and much is expected of the lads when they clash I with Grantsville this evening. 'The I boys will leave at 2 o'clock, and the fans will start their trek from 4 on. Everyone able to make the trip should be there, as Bingham needs your sup-port, both on the local floor and away from home. Reports from the county state that the roads are in good condition, and the upper paved road leading out of Bingham Canyon is in tip top shape. Hitch up the ole mare, and let's sally onward. |
