One of 'M the social surprises of the week was 9H the announcement from New York gH City, received by H. L. Abramson, H that Bcn L. Abramson of this city was jH wed there last Saturday to Miss Han- nah Wise of the metropolis. Mr. Abramson is a cousin to H. L. Abratn-son, Abratn-son, and the two are among: Brigham 3NH prominent business men. Mr. Abram- jH son went east about two weoks ago, I presumably on a buying trip, and the H announcement of his marriage comes 2gB i as a surprise to his mand friends in vjjfM j this city. II Mrs. George Gilbert was given a I pleasant birthday dinner Friday even- f- ing in honor of her eightieth birthday. After the dinner, which was served at the home of the honored guest, the party went to the home of Mrs. J. W. Sheffield, where the evening was spent in a social way. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson announce an-nounce the engagement of their daughter daugh-ter Mae to C. E. Anderson of Brook-. Brook-. lyn, N. Y., the marriage to take place in early autumn in Salt Lake. Mrs. George Facer gave a pleasant social al her home Saturday evening for a few friends. The principal feature fea-ture of the evening was doing fancy needlework. Dainty refreshments con-A. con-A. I sisting of ice cream, cake and fruits were served. Special decorations were prepared for the table. Those present were Mrs. Charles Wight, Mrs. Oleen N. Stohl, Mrs. J, D. Knudson, Mrs. Rose H. Neeloy, Miss Lula Facer, Miss Malinda Wright and Miss Etta Facer. . L. L. Beckstcad of Swan Lake, Idaho, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Beckstead of. this city, and Miss Hannah Han-nah Jacobsen of Swan Lake were married mar-ried Saturday in Salt Lake, where Mr. Beckstead has been stationed at Fort Douglas for two months. Young Beckstead Beck-stead is a member of the Idaho national na-tional guard. Stephen L. Owerjs of Willard and Miss Isadore Shumway of Clarkston will be married in the Salt Lake Temple Tem-ple next Wednesday. Ilss Shumway is well known in this city, being a sister sis-ter to Mr3. A. J. Fife, and has spent a great deal of time visiting her many Brigham friends. Mrs. Emma Norman and Miss Esther Es-ther Norman of Salt Lake will make their home with Mrs. Norman's son, H. L. Norman of this city, for a few weeks. Mrs. Harry Heaton is here from Vancouver, B. C, spending a few days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Heat-on. Heat-on. Mrs. Heaton formerly resided in Salt Lake. She will be accompanied northwest soon by Mr. and Mrs. Heaton. Miss Cynthia Frank of Dallas, Texas, Tex-as, is spending a few weeks in this city visiting her brother and family. Rev. A. G. Frank. Miss Marie James has returned from an extended visit with relatives and friends In Washington state. Miss James is a sister to Mrs. F. C. Hult-qui,st. Hult-qui,st. Mr. and Mrs. Sperry W. Lawson entertained en-tertained Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Packard of Salt Lake Sunday. Several hundred persons from Brig-ham Brig-ham and the county spent Tuesday in Ogden. Charles P. Burnham of Salt Lake spent Sunday in Brigham viBiting friends. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Orion Jensen entertained the members of the Social Development club atj their home on East First South.
