Show iiiTliiisl EXCELLENT HIM The related subject of Weber college col-lege and the presentation of the drama, dra-ma, "Secret Service," by the W. A. Dramatic club, at the Orpheum theater thea-ter next week, was the theme of an address by Principal James L. Barker Bar-ker at the Wober academy this morning. morn-ing. The address was in connection with the weekly student body day program, which consisted of a number num-ber of excellent musical and literary numbers. Miss Mary Fischer, the popular high school violiniste, contributed two fine selections, "The Legend" (Wien-iawski) (Wien-iawski) and "Chanson Polonaise," with piano accompaniment by Miss Gladys Rich. Tho- literary numbers were readings of "The Little Blue Cat," by Ruth Pardoe, and "A Thanks-, Thanks-, giving Diary." by Nettie Ririe. In addition to these treats, three selec-! selec-! tions by the academy band, "Humor-esque" "Humor-esque" (Dvorak), "Aloha Oe", and the ! march, "When You Dream of Old New Hampshire," directed by Prof. E. W. Nichols, were enjoyed and heartily applauded. ap-plauded. In the address of the morning, Principal Prin-cipal Barker referred to the institution institu-tion of Weber college as the filling of a long-felt need in Ogden and said that he believed the local community appreciated its importance. He then gave a review of the drama, "Secret Service," which is to be presented for the benefit of the college equipment fund, characterizing it as one of the greatest of American plays. Speaking further, he praised the members of the dramatic club for their regularity regular-ity in attending rehearsals and expressed ex-pressed confidence in their ability to give a praiseworthy impersonation of the characters they have assumed, when the time for their public effort is at hand. |
