Show WHEELER CREEK TO BE TURNED OVER TO FARMERS Mayor A. G Fell has received word that a part of the material for the wood pipe for the artesian wells water wa-ter main extension has been shipped and that other shipments will he made in the near future. It is expected I that all the pipe for connecting the I wells with the Wheeler Creek pipe, about two miles distant, will be on hand when trench digging shall have b in completed. The company having the contract for the trench work is preparing to begin work. As soon as the trench for the pipe is completed, it is planned to place at work four crews of pipe fitters between be-tween the wells and the power dam, v. mi a riew to getting the wood pipe I i in position for use at the earliest possible pos-sible time. There are prospects of water shortage before the season is over and the city commissioners are anxious to connect the artesian well"' with the city reservoirs before the dry period. It is hoped that there will be a supply of about 10,000,000 gallons a day from the artesian wells, which is more than will be needed in the city at any time. If the artesian wells project is sat isfaetory, the Wheeler Creek supply of water can be turned into the river for use by the farmers as soon as the wood pipe is connected with the present pipe line at the power dam. It is understood, however, that the city will not forfeit any of its rights to the Wheeler Creek water by permitting per-mitting it to be used for irrigation purposes The city also has a water riht in the Bench canal which it will not need when tho artesian water is available. This supply also may be utilized for Irrigation purpose? n r |
