Show I TRAINING COURSE AT EXPOSITION Miss Margaret Wilson and Dr. Montessori to Conduct Classes at Exposition San Francisco. Cal., June 26. Under the patronage of Miss Margaret Wilson, Wil-son, daughter of President Wood row' Wilson, Dr Maria Montessori, the noted not-ed Italian educator, will conduct an International In-ternational Montessori training course at the Panama-Pacific International exposition during August. September, October and November With Miss Wilson on the committee In charge of the course are David Starr Jordan, nresident of the National Education I association, which meets in Oakland In August, and P. P. Claxton, United States commissioner of education. The special course will be for the benefit of teachers, parents and oth crs interested In child welfare, and in connection with it will be held a num ber of demonstration schoors :n whirl ggr - - i educators from all parts of the United States and from abroad have been I asked to conduct a thorough study and I fpst of Dr. Montesaorl's method of child training during this course. The exposition authorities asked Dr. .Montessori to conduct ht-r International Internation-al training course on the exposition grounds because of the opportunity it will afford to give an International test of this neW68l and unique method of developing individual Initiative In very jouni; children An essential part of the plan' consists in the appointment ap-pointment of an international committee commit-tee which will crlve careful and ext. Hided Hid-ed Btudy to the demonstration classes and report at the close of the exposition exposi-tion concerning the actual progress made and the real contribution that the Montessori principles have made to educational advancement. The arrangements for the course are in the hands of Wallace Hatch of Berkeley. Cal., who was formerly acting act-ing chief of the department ol educa tion of the exposition. |
