Show FATHER CAUSES SON'S ARREST Pocatello. Idaho. Nov. 29. On a warrant sworn out by his father, Andrew An-drew Smith of Nampa, Philip Smith has been returned to this state from Bingham, Utah, on the charge of passing pass-ing a forged check, by which his father fath-er was the loser in the sum of $350. Smith was arrested some time ago in Spokane and accused of collusion with L. J. Samuels, now awaiting trial in Caldwell, in passing worthless checks. At that time he was claimed by the sheriff from Brigham City, Utah, wher he was taken to answer to the same charge. His father then came to his rescue and young Smith was given his release upon the promise prom-ise that he would be taken back to Canyon county to answer to the charge preferred by hi3 father.. True to his word, the elder Smith turned the soa over to the authorities upon his arrival from Utah. The young man waived preliminary hearing and was bound over for trial under a $500 bond, which his father furnished. It is expected that young Smith, as well as Samuels, will bo tried during the present term of the district court of Canyon county. |
