"To the north of the Alsne the fire of our batteries directed against tho enemy organizations on the plateau of Vauclerc caused a powerful explosion. explo-sion. "In the Champagne our guns brought down a German aoroplane, which fell Inside the enemy lines near Salnto Marle-e-Py. "In tho Argonne we energetically bombarded the Malancourt woods. At La Fillo Mort one of our rulnos shattered shat-tered a German trench, and another destroyed an enemy post at bill 2S3. "To tho -west of the Measo in the course of the day the bombardment continued in the region of Malancourt. Malan-court. there -was no Infantry action. "To" the east of the Meuso the Germans Ger-mans directed this morninp; on our positions in tho neighborhood of Fori Douaumont a violent attack, accom paniod by jets of liquid flame. The enemy was completely repulsed.. A little later a second attack at the same point was no more successful and similarly cost the Germans very appreciable lossos. "In the Woevro there has been Intermittent In-termittent activity on the part of the artillery. "In the Vosges a strong reconnaissance reconnais-sance which attempted to reach our trenches north of Wissembach was dispersed by our barrier tire.
