Show AMERICANS 1 Seven United States Citizens Were Passengers on Norwegian Nor-wegian Bark Which Was Sunk 'Without Warning. "Washington, March 11. Consul Osborne Os-borne at Havre reported today that when the Norwegian bark Silius from New York to Havre was torpedoed without warning in Havre roads on the night o March 9, seven Americans Ameri-cans aboard were rescued The loss of the Silius was first reported re-ported last night from London. If the Silius was torpedoed, such an attack was contrary to the asshranccs the United States has secured from the central powers. Secretarv Lansing said no action would be taken until the state department depart-ment had full information. New York Report. New York, March 11 There wero oulv four Americans aboard the Silius, according to agents of the Hue here, and they wero members of the crew. The members were David Sherman of Bedford, Mass., John AVarbman of Philadelphia, Daniel Norah of Con-Kccticut, Con-Kccticut, and Henry Monahan of Bos- Thc hark, which was commanded bv Captain A. B. Syvcrtson, sailed from New York, February 4 for Hayro with a cargo of 2200 tons of barley shipped from San Francisco. The local agents said tho Silius crew numbered seventeen men, Paris, March 11, -:53 a. m. Seven of the crew of the Norwegian bark Silius, which was torpedoed and sunk yesterday, were Americans. Tho Silius left New York, Fobruary 4, for Havre. The Petit Parlslon says that one of tho Americans on tho Silius was injured in-jured seriously in his legs and wns taken to the Pasteur hospital.
