May 24 Frank DnPrct-to's DnPrct-to's sentence of death was stayed yesterday yes-terday by a reprlve granted by Governor Gov-ernor "William Spry until the next meeting of the state board of pardons June 17. DePretto was sentenced to be shot June 9, for the murder of Eugene Allen Al-len in thf Highland Boy store, in the Bingham district, two years ago. lie was the companion of Frank Brewer, also convicted of the murder of Allen. The reprieve was granted by the governor because the- board of pardons par-dons was not yet ready to act'upon the application of DePretto for commutation commuta-tion of h's death sentence to life imprisonment. im-prisonment. Tho reprieve will be sustained by the board of pardons when It meets. At that time the board will probably make final disposition of DePretto's application. Meantime members of the board will make careful investigation of all phases phas-es of DePretto's case. In the event that the application for commutation is denied, a new date for the execution execu-tion will be set. DePretto was taken to the governor's gover-nor's office at the capitol yesterday I morning by Warden Arthur Pratt and Deputy Warden A. C. Ure of the state ! prison. After a brief conference with the governor and Attorney General A. It. Barnes, the gqvernor told DePretto De-Pretto he would issue a reprieve until the next regular meeting of the board of pardons.
