Show TEAMS BREAK EH II OPENING GAMES OF SEASON After meeting defeat at Brlgham City, Saturday, in the opening game of the season, by the Brlgham City nine, tho Utah Power & Light company's com-pany's baseball team staged a comeback come-back yesterday afternoon at Glenwood and evened up the score. The score at Brigham City was 3 to 1, the victory vic-tory or the "Peaches" being largely auo to "Cy" Morgan's pitching. Dick Heywood was on the mound for Og-den. Og-den. Yesterday the scoro was 12 to 5, with "Brick" Greenwell pitching In mid-season form and pulling the game out of tho fire, after Shipley had virtually vir-tually given the visitors their 5 runs in the fore-nart of the first inning. Despite the unseasonable weather, snow falling on tho field at Intervals, i the local season was opened auspiciously. aus-piciously. Mayor A. R. Heywood pitched ' the first ball and President Jack Browning of the league, scorn-fully scorn-fully waving aside Catcher Duncan's . big glove, missed It. Tho mayor and league president were roundly applauded ap-plauded when they appeared on the field and the old spirit of state league days prevailed. In the two lineups were "xVndy" Jensen, Ramshaw, "Wess-ler. "Wess-ler. Ileline" and Greenwell of State league and Union association experience experi-ence and among the other players were some of the fastest amateurs this section of the state has produced. All in all, the teams appeared capable cap-able of putting up the brand of baseball base-ball that the local fans like. Yesterday, however, Brigham played play-ed In hard luck, Newton Patten, "Andy" "An-dy" Jensen's first string catcher, breaking his leg above the ankle and Keller spraining his ankle. Patten's unfortunate accident occurred in the fourth inning, when he slid into third base and he was taken Immediately to the Dee hospital in au automobile. Keller turned his ankle sliding into second base, in the first inning, and though he continued playing his out-rield out-rield position, was unable to control his pitching when called in to relieve re-lieve Lowe. Duncan, tho first string catcher of the "Power" team, received a bad bruise under his right eye, when he collided with Cole, in the third inning. These accidents served to slow up the play considerable, but after the first inning and with the exception of the second half of the 7th, when Keller's sore ankle prevente ' good mound wprk, the game was full of Interest The work of Vandiver, Wessler and Butterfield on the infield was on the a-1 order and was almost equalled by that of Jeppscn, Ramshaw and A. Jensen Jen-sen for Brigham. The pitching of Greenwell, however, was the big feature fea-ture of the game, though the batting of Vandiver, Duncan, Holme and Wessler, came in for considerable attention. at-tention.
