Show BRYAN TO BE Friends of Peace Open Meeting Meet-ing in Chicago Draft Resolutions Reso-lutions and Hear Former Secretary. Chicago, Sept G The report of the resolutions committee at this morning's morn-ing's meeting and an address by Wm. J. Bryan late this afternoon were the chief events scheduled for today's sessions of tho Friends of Peace. Numbers of delegates said any attempt at-tempt to have the convention declare for an embargo on war munitions would fail. They said a majority of delegates would vote against such action. ac-tion. Mr. Bryan's agreement to address tho convention was not absolutely given until after a conference with the executive committee last night The meeting was secret but later Henry Welssmau, one of the leaders of the convontlon, said that Mr. Bryan Bry-an would speak with the understanding understand-ing that anything he might say would not be binding on the convention and anything the convention might do would not be binding on him. Congressman Vollmer of Iowa, and Congressman Porter of Pennsylvania, were on today's program for addresses. |
