The com i mission Is composed of Professors I William Stuart and V. A Orton, Dr. H. L Shantz and R. L. Piemeisel of I the bureau of plant industry of thf I United States department of agrlcu! ture. at Washington. D. C. Professor W. A. Morse of the Maine Experiment station. Professor T. C. Johnson of the Truck Experiment sta- tion of North Virginia and Dr E C. Siakman of the Minnesota Experiment station at St. Paul. The commission has thus far In estigated conditions in the big pota to fields of the country, between Maine and Utah, and has been accom-, accom-, panied by Dr Otto Appel of the Im perial Biological Institution of Ber lin, Germanv Dr. Appel is one of the leading authorities on potato culture cul-ture in Europe and came to the United Unit-ed States on the invitation of the Secretary of Agriculture, for the purpose pur-pose of giving the benefits of his yfars of experience to the members of the commission and through them, to the farmers of the country. The government party left the Reed hotel at 8 o'clock this morning in automobiles. In care of President Joseph Jo-seph Scow croft, Secretary I L. Reyn olds and Director W. J. Parker of the Weber club and J. D. Larson of the Ogden Publicity bureau They were accompanied by the following Utah men: Dr. George R Hill Jr., Dr F. S Harris, Dr. E. G. Titus. B. L Richards Rich-ards of the Utah Experiment station, J Edward Taylor, state horticultural inspector, Carl Isaacson. Box Elder County Horticultural Inspector R M 1 Rasmussen, Weber county horticultural horticul-tural inspector, and several county farm demonstrators Their schedule route through the potato districts was from Roy to Plain City; thence back to Ogden and from Ogden to Brigham City, where they will pass the night. Prior to going to Brigham City, the party was to be taken for a pleasure trip through Ogden cauyon by the Weber club members oo |
