The International Mining Congress, which drew to a close Saturday, was a most successful meeting. The attendance reached several hundred delegates coming from thirty-four states, Aus tralla, Canada, Mexico, Venesuela and l'eru. The sessions continued three days and the papers embraced many toplea of Interest to mining men In all branches of the Industry. Tho most Important resolution adopted was one Introduced by ox-longreastnan C. IX Allen of Utah, asking congress to pass a law doing away with estra lateral rights. This was n compromise measure, mea-sure, the committee on laws having recommended the abrogation of extra lateral rights, the apex vein and the enlargement of claim a from twenty to forty acres as n compensatory measure Tho report had the support of such representative men nt Prof. Kcycs of California, J. A. Murray of Montana and II. C Chambers of Utah, but opposition op-position was so strong that a conips-inlse conips-inlse measure was Introduced to aeeuro greater harmony. Colonel Montgomery of Colorado, was elected president and Milwaukee selected as the next meeting placo.
