Show HESTER RECEIVES M'CLAIN'S CONTRACT Salt Lake, March 5. Manager Herb Hester of the Salt Lake club yesterday yes-terday received the signed contract of Art McClaln, last year's Skyscraper catcher. McClaln :s in Los Angeles, where he has been flaying ball quite steadily. He Is doing a remarkable lino of catchng for the "Hoegee Stars," who are just now In a battle royal with Hap Hogan's Venice team by way of practice for Venice. "The box scores of the games show that McClaln has Improved in his hitting, hit-ting, lacing out an average of one about every three times up. In the most recent game, of which the box score came with yesterday's Los Angeles An-geles exchanges, HcClain had five assists, as-sists, showing that tho Tigers who ventured on base-stealing expeditions died a-trying.f In the game percediug tho one referred to, McClain was chalked up for two hits In three limes up, with six assists.
