Decided efforts are being made to induce the British go eminent to come to an agreement with the suffragists, wherebv a measure for the enfranchisement enfran-chisement of women can be made a part of the official program of the Liberal party. Some suffragist leaders said todav that this movement has obtained considerable con-siderable headway A strong feature of the conference his been the pres ence of Mr and Mrs. Frederick Will lam Pet hick Lawrence, who left the women's social and political union at the request of Mrs Emmellne Pank-hurst Pank-hurst It Is known that the government will consider a compromise based only on an unqualified repudiation of the women's social and political union and all Its militant methods.
