Show jj FREIGHT INCREASES BlAckfoot, Idaho. Nov. 7 The month Just closed has shown a rr markable Increase In freight of all kinds received and forwarded from this place. Tho total Increase In tonnage over the corresponding month of last year Is nearly oO.uOu.-000 oO.uOu.-000 tons Th Oregon Short Uue has already handled over 600. nnn tons of sugar beets U1I3 fall, and there are thousands of tons piled along tho tracks awaiting shipment. Nearly Sou carloads of potatoes have boon handled from this point alone within the past ten months, and there aro several hundred carloads awaiting shipment as soon as cars can be secured or when tho price has met the approval of the producers. Most of the farmers have made storage stor-age cellars this summer and prepared prepar-ed for any contingency that may arise in the handling of the potato crop. The Oregon Short Lino has mad extensive Improvements in Blackfoot during the summer. Including a fine new depot, a roundhouso and extensions exten-sions in switches. There are several other necessary additions to the railroad facilities which are under wav, making a total cost to the company com-pany of close to $80,000. Blackfoot will soon be equipped with a railroad ser.ice -erom to none in th state. With the rapid increase, in the volume vol-ume of business from this point aa the dry farming is developed, the shipping will tax even the contemplated contem-plated Improvements. |
