Show SEARCHING FOR FRAUDJOIY Funds Obtained by Bogus Stock Sales Sought by U. S. Government. San Francisco, Cal. March IS. Acting Act-ing on telegraphic Information from New York, the United States district attorney's office here began a search in San Francisco today for a part or the $G,000,000 said to have been obtained ob-tained from the sale of bogus stocks by Archie L. WIsner and John J. Meyer, Mey-er, convicted in New York last week of using the mails to defraud, and sentenced to six years' imprisonment and fined $150,000. The New York officials say they have proof that Meyer, who was for mcrly a mining engineer, with offices In this city, secreted a large part of the' fraudulently obtained money. Subpoenas have been issued for offices of-fices of several surety companies hero and others believed to have knowledge knowl-edge of the affairs of the convicted swindlers. |
