Show ED LE MAR IS FULLY exonerated E edward dward L lo 10 0 mar arrested at ogden last week and taken to salt lake by deputy sheriff steele to answer a complaint sworn out by an officer of theli salt lake juvenile court charging him with a statutory offense committed with a young girl of that city was brought back to ogden yesterday and taken to tho the reform school and con fronted by his alleged victim or companion the young girl who hail had boon been sent to the reformatory from salt lake claimed that lemar was not the man guilty of the offense anil and he was at once discharged from custody mr lo 10 mar states that he has been subjected to an exceedingly great humiliation milia tion through the circumstance of mistaken identity and the telephonic misuse or misunderstanding of a name the man wanted in this case was one ed de mar who lives in I 1 loadho INy hother de mar is guilty of the alleged offense mr le mar knows know not but ho he is very certain that ho he is not ed de mar the strange misunderstanding came about through a telephonic communication to the officers of ogden regarding the case and tho officers understanding the name to be le mar instead of de mar and it Is hardly accountable how hov the mistake could bo be made from the fact fitch that the two do mars are quite different looking men do de mar the alleged offender is described as acin being a 1 hoy boy under age of dark complexion with dark stiff hair and weighing about pounds while le mar is 24 21 years old and weighs pounds ills hair is lark dark but he wears it in the long cut and it Is wavy mr lo le mar has no part particular lular criticism to offer on the action of the officers at ogden but he feels that the salt lake police department might amigh have accorded him different treatment when they saw him and could plainly see that he was not the man wanted instead of holding film aim in jail from last saturday until yesterday refusing him ball and paying no attention to the importunities of his friends who had known him from childhood and who earnestly pleaded that lie he be given bail ho he thinks ho he should have been spared the humiliation of a continued incarceration mr le mar hopes that it if do mar PYO proposes POses to fo continue in these peculiar entanglements entangle ments he will change his name or else advise mrle mar afar of his future actions so that mr lo 10 mar mai MR may y make a change in his name |
