Show 1 ALARMED OVER THE SPREAD OF prohibition WAVE I 1 claim the lessened consumption of beer increases demand for strong drink N new york jan 28 an organized movement against the wave of prohibition which Is spreading over the country Is now being made in new york and d elsewhere the brewers ind and dealers in brewers supplies anti and machinery ire are behind the movement and are organizing associations throughout the country the object of which will bo be to fight the prohibition movement the organization in new york is known as the manufacturers dealers club of greater new york and circulars have been sent to jobbing firms and men in the financial district in an effort to extend the membership throughout hout the business world it is proposed as soon as the local organizations are well under way throughout the country to organize them into a national organization it is said that large members of business men are joining the local organization iza tion in this connection attention is called to a recently published statement of the DiEs distillers tillers securities corporation to the effect that while the prohibition movement lessens the consumption of beer it has had at the same time the effect of increasing the demand for stronger beverages |
