Show Highwaymen Bind Hands, Feet of "Bingham Resident O. P. (Jerry) Hurley, employee of the Bingham Garage, was found bound and gagged by the side of the paved highway early Tuesday by Steve Adams, who was en route home from Salt Lake. ; Hurley reported to Chief Deputy Sheriff Dert Smith that as he was riding down the canyon about midnight mid-night he slowed up near the Royal Laundry for three men, who were walking single file. After leaving, leav-ing, the canyon, the bandits drove the car, which was a Studebaker S, to a farmhouse, evidently with the Intention of getting rid of Hurley. As the car approached the place, an occupant of the bouse turned on the light and the bandits sped away with their victim , . ' The car was then driven to West Jordan, where Hurley, with his hands and feet bound, was given some soda water and some clgarets. "Those bandits certainly gave me service," was Jerry's comment at the sheriff's office. ; t Turning hack on the highway, the bandit trio drove the car to a ranch near Hogan's dairy, where Hurley with feet bound and tied to his hands, was robbed of $18 and his watch, pushed out of the car and his captors sped away. Hurley began calling for help and a neighboring farmer, thinking be was about to be held up, took a shot at the bound man, evidently with the intention of scaring the burglar away. Rolling, crawling and hopping, Hurley made his way laboriously to the side of the paved road, where he was pased up by several motorists motor-ists despite his cries for help. Steve Adams Anally came along with some friends and quickly taking In the situation, freed Hurley and brought him Into Bingham, from where the sheriff's office was notified. |
