Show B U t 1 STREAM IS AR A FIGHTING TUM RAMPAGE 11 14 1 J water Is threatening damage to to mail railroad tracks workmen pro ogden river is again a fighting tumbling stream roaring and tossing along its rocky bed and threatening in a hundred places to overflow the banks further down washington avenue it Is leaving the banks and inundating large tracts on both sides much damage has already been done and it if the present high water continues considerably more will be the result before people can properly protect their property the southern pacific and oregon short line railroad companies have large forces of men mien at work piling up sand bags to protect the tracks A force of men is stationed at the oregon short line bridge to protect that structure in case the water gets higher were it not tor for the act fact that a levee of sand bags was constructed along the river near deckers brewery it Is safe to say that the large plant would now bo be surrounded by several feet of water much aluch of the residence district west of washington avenue along twentieth street and in the glasgow addition Is under water hundreds of laborers are engaged in attempting to confine the torrential stream in its proper channel |
