Show INQUEST OVER AUTO VICTIMS banbury eng juno 12 the inquest into the of H C johnson of was held hero today sir johnson was killed in an automobile accident at edgehill Edge hlll near here june 10 and at the time three otho members of the party his wife and mr and airs john H blake of philadel phia were seriously injured the inquest lasted three hours and the jury handed in a verdict that the deceased met his death by the upsetting of tho motor car and great blame attaches to the chauff auer for allowing the car getting beyond control ho should be censured and the jury believes the authorities should give more prominent notice to the danger presented by the corner where the accident after the delivery of the verdict the coroner censured the chauffeur a man named kent in strong terms for his carelessness kent who is ill and weak as a result of his injuries and tho shock appeared to feel his position keenly at the opening oi the inquiry J T a resident of berkley cal gave evidence as to the identity of deceased tho evidence of mrs johnson was taken in her bedroom she said she kent slowed down on approaching the scene of the upset but according to other witnesses the car was traveling at a dangerous speed kent testified that he started down the hul at eight miles an hour he gained a speed 14 miles an hour and then applied the side brakes when the car skidded and a tire burst when the crash came he said he certainly was not exceeding eight miles an hour he was not aware that the hill was so dangerous |
