Show OFF BANCROFT MANSON AND OTHERS an PRIVATE CAR tonopah mining region in nevada will get a new idea of time from wednesdays standard general manager bancroft and gen eral superintendent buckingham came in from green river to which point they accompanied director of maintenance and operation julius krutt of the harraman Harrl man system here they were joined by superintendent manson and engineer fitzgerald and proceeded west in a special car which was attached to southern pacific train no 3 to inspect the new hazen cutoff cut off route and be present at the opening of that road september ast 1st the new road has been made a part of the salt lake division of the southern pacific and Is under the control of general manager bancroft and superintendent manson tuesday mr bancroft issued the following order placing the new road under the jurisdiction of the division officials of the salt lake division effective september 1 1905 the nevada california railway formerly the carson and colorado also the line hazen to churchill will be operated as part of the salt lake division and the jurisdiction of the general and division officers thereof Is extended over these lines the standard of time on the nevada california railway will be that ot the one hundred and fifth meridian or mountain time all employed emp loyes will govern themselves accordingly W H BANCROFT general manager in connection with the issuance of the order an interesting feature has come to light and that is that the order virtually changes the time of the whole tonopah region as it changes the railroad time of the district from pacific to mountain time at 12 midnight on september ast 1st all railroad men in that district will change the time of their watches by advancing tha hands one hour As is the custom the time of the district will probably be changed to the same as the railroad time and to the people it will seem as it they are rising and attending to their dally affairs earlier by an hour than formerly but often mining camps disregard railroad or runtime eun time and are regulated by mining time the whistles that blow a m 7 a m and p m in the mining regions are the regulators of all clocks regardless of eun moon or stars or railroad bulletins |
