Trust company gives the following brief report re-port on general business conditions. "Tho month of Soptember has borne out tho prophecies of the optimists. op-timists. The stimulus of the bountiful bounti-ful harvests hag been felt in all branches of industry. "The demand for money is country wide, with a general tightening of the rate, but the earlier fear of an acute money situation has subsided to a degree, although tho calling of stock market loanB In New York and Importation Im-portation of gold Indicates that the requirements of the country will be big and that bankers aro making full preparations to meet or prevent unfavorable un-favorable developments. Ratos, however, how-ever, may be expected to continue stiff throughout tho fall and winter. The hardening of the monoy market Is, of course, direct evidence of tha commercial expansion. The baoto industry, Iron and steel, continues to maintain a hit;h degree of activity. The steel corporations aro operating their mill capacltv. , The Pittsburg district reports the blowing blow-ing In of additional blast furnaces and tho pig iron market closes the month ,in a strong position, with prices advancing. ad-vancing. Improvement In the textiles Is marked m cotton and the broad demand de-mand for woolens Is maintained. "The only really serious factor in tho situation Is transportation The car shortage of 1907 Is still too vividly recalled not to occasion some fear that the largo crops and the strong revival ln trade will make demands upon the railroads which they are not prepared to meet full An actual shortage has already developed, but It Is by no means general, although acute at some of the primary grain markets of the country.
