The growth of operations of the Utah Copper company is without parallel par-allel in tho history of copper mining, as -witness the fact that Its production produc-tion in 1905 was less than 5,000.000 1 pounds, whereas today this company Is turning out the red metal at the rate of about 125,000,000 pounds per annum, a volume equal to the aggregate aggre-gate annual output of the entire Lake Superior district prior to 1895. In addition, the Utah Copper company com-pany owns a half interest in the Nevada Ne-vada Consolidated, which Is producing produc-ing at tho rate of about 73,000,000 pouudB per annum With copper selling at 17; cents per pound, the Utah Copper company com-pany is showing earnings, Including its full proportion from Nevada Consolidated, Con-solidated, of more than $15,500,000 per annum, which, as has been recently pointed out, probably exceeds tho aggregate ag-gregate of the Michigan district. The Utah Copper, despite Its wonderful won-derful achievements, has yet to reach the zenith of its career as a producer, and It also may be stated that the future has better things In store In the way of costs per pound of coppor produced. |
