Show WILL ASSIST Ablest Sleuths to Help in Investigating Murder Mur-der Case New York. Aug. 26 With the appointment ap-pointment of W. J. Flynn, chief of the local seruce, chief investigator of the aldermanic investigating committee, com-mittee, came the news today that the ablest detoctives in the country will aid Chief Flynn in ferreting out evidence evi-dence of police blackmail Couusel for Police Lieutenant Charles Becker, Beck-er, now In Jail on charges of Instigating Insti-gating the murder of Herman Rosenthal, Ros-enthal, the gambler, was busy today preparing the defense of the accused lieutenant. Becker's lawyer, it is learned, expects to show that Becker was ihe lctlm of a gamblers' plot, headed by "Bald Jack" Rose and tho men who have supported his "confession." "con-fession." Rose and these men, counsel will assert, hnve sufficient reasons to seek revenge on Becker for his activities against them. It will be further alleged al-leged that a plot to niurdor Rosenthal was conceived three months before he was killed but tho plan was abandoned aban-doned at the Instance cf certain oast side gamblers. It also will be contended that Rosenthal Ros-enthal was offered $10,000 to go to Canada, hut that when he demanded ?25 000 It was decided to mako away with him. |
