Show Methodist Episcopals Rapidly Naming Their Favorites Minneapolis, May 23. With four bishops choson of the eight to bo elected "politics" of the general conference con-ference of the Methodist Episcopal church hero rapldlv is turning to the selection of those "who will fill other elective offices, such as secretaryships secretary-ships of different boards, heads of church papers and places on tho powerful pow-erful committees of tho church. The four bishops so far elected are: Dr. Homer C. Stuntz, New York, Dr. Henderson, Brooklyn; Dr. W. O. Shepard, Chicago and Dr. N Lubbock, Kansas City. In the committee elections, the ninth general conference district, which is one of fifteen such divisions and which is composed of tho greater part of Iowa and Nebraska, has chosen chos-en H. M. Havner of Marengo, Iowa, to succeed 0. P. Miller of Rock Rapids, Iowa, on the book commlteo which Is called the "backbone of the church." Mr. Miller has been on tho book committee for 16 years In to same district Rev. J. R. Gettys of David City, Neb., and C. Rush Benedict Bene-dict of Sherby, Iowa, have been chosen chos-en on the missionary committee, which also Is a strong organization of th church. With the withdrawal of Dr Andrew Gillies of Minneapolis from to bishopric bis-hopric race, Dr. H. C. Jennings of Cincinnati, Ohio, also a member of the Minnesota conference, has made a rapid gain, jumping from 4G on the fourteenth ballot to 150 on the sixteenth.
