Show ii AN AUTO DRIVE FOR THE CHILDREN. i j There have been "flag days" and "school days" and days of j musical demonstrations. Now the Standard has a suggestion to of fer on a day of real enjoyment for the children who have been the J principals in these events so pleasing to the "grown-up folks." "Why not an "auto day," say some evening, when the children of the city under a certain age shall be driven in automobiles to the country and back to their homes? There are 400 automobiles in Ogden. If half of them were to be placed in service for several hours, all the children of the city who have not entrance to the doorway of an automobile, could be taken for a ride. "What a delightful trip it would bel There are hundreds of youngsters who have never seen the canyon from an automobile, or I the Davis & Weber Counties Caual company's waterway, or the beautiful young orchards on the Sand Ridge, or the well-shaded driveway between Ogden and Slaterville, or the upland scenery - from Ogden to North Ogden, or the wild roses on the 'road to Uintah that leads over the dugway. There are one hundred beauty spots that to the big eyes of the little ones would be fairy land. "What is more pleasurable than making children happy in a helpful way; what is more delightful than the sight of little ones in the full enjoyment of nature's blessings? An evening of autoing with the small children of Ogden would - vbe an innovation that might become an annual event to be patterned after by, other cities and eventually give to a small deed nation-j nation-j wide influence. h |
