Winship who comes to Ogden this evening to deliver an address at the Weber acad-emj acad-emj Is one of the most prominent figures in educational circles of the United States While his home is in Boston, a large part of his time Is spent In traveling and deliering lectures. lec-tures. Upon his arrival In Salt Lake jesterday ho declared that during the past nine months he has crossed the continent three times and has arrived this far on his fourth trip. He loft Boston early In October and does not expect to return there until March. Dr. Winship In 1896 was a delegato to the Republican National convention conven-tion from Massachusetts Besides a lecturer ho has distinguished himself as an author. His books "The Shop," the "Life of Horace Mann," and tho "Great American Educator," are widely wide-ly read. For jears he has taken a leading part in educational affairs of cultured Boston and New England. Ho was at one time president of the New-England New-England States Republican Editors' association and the Massachusetts Editorial association. He is now editor ed-itor of the American School Journal, a weekly newspaper published in tho interest of educatlon. The New England educator will deliver de-liver his first lecture in Utah at the L D. S. unheislty, Salt Lake City this evening. He will speak at Provo Saturday and Sunday will speak at the Ogden "tabernacle at 2 p. m and Logan next week A. C. Nelson, state superintendent of public Instruction will accompany Dr. Winship on his lecture tour of Utah. |
