Show ACTOR DIES AFTER PAINFUL SICKNESS SALT LAKE, Jan. S After suffering suf-fering slnco Dec. 28 from spinal meningitis, men-ingitis, Louis Fletcher Craig, aged 21 years, for nearly two seasons a member of the Garrlck stock company com-pany playing Juvenllo roles, died at Holy Cross hospital at 4:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Miss Ethel Clifton, formerly leading lady or tho company, and other members mem-bers of the company were at the young man's bedsldo when death ended end-ed his sufferings. A week ago Miss Clifton made arrangements to go east, but owing to tho condition af Mr. Craig she remained hero and was at his bedside, almost constantly. The young actor played with tho company in 1910 nnd 1911 and the 'ast character ho portrayed was that ot tho telegraph operator in "Secret Sorvlco.' At that time ho complained of peculiar feelings and becamo high-1 high-1 nervous. Dr. II. N. Mayo was called and discovered that the young man had spinal meningitis and he was hurried to the hospital where eery thing possible was done to re-He, re-He, e his sufferings. Tho deceased was bora in Sacramento Sacra-mento Cai., May .10, 1S88. For some time ho was employed by the Dramatic Dra-matic league In San Francisco, but ho longed to becomo an actor and mado hin first npeparance upon tho stage In the Alcazar theater In San Francisco. Ho mado rapid progress in his choson profession and played with various stock companies, finally casting his lot with the Garrick play-ors play-ors with whom he was a strong favorite fav-orite Tho young man is survived by his fathor who rcaides at Port Moody, 13 C; two aunts, Mrs. Anna Boedeckcr, and Mrs. Ella Herlltz, of Port Costa, Cal.! and one uncle, James JIackott, or Port Costa. Mrs. Boedecker came hero from California Californ-ia a wcok ago and will leave this afternoon with tho body and take It to San Ftanclsco for burial. Tho funeral will bo held at the Holy Cross church, and. Interment will bo In the Holy Cross cemotory at San Francisco. |
