Field work consists of building roads and trails, establishing telephone tele-phone linos, erecting cabins, blazing trees to mark boundary lines and In nttendlng to all matters respecting tho work of handling and protecting tho forest reserves, Including preparations prepara-tions for fire-fighting Timber reconnaissance will also begin be-gin May 1, A. . Aldous of the Washington Wash-ington office being hero to take up tho labor. Mr. Aldous has been placed In charge of this division of the forest for-est work In tho Ogdon district this year nnd ho is now marshaling his forces. Most of tho mon selected for timber tim-ber reconnolterlng aro selected from tho agricultural colleges, it requiring requir-ing knowledge respecting botany, animal industry nnd kindred subjects. Eight yonng men will be secured at the agricultural collogo at Logan within the next few days to aid In this line of forest work, beginning May 1 Professor II. C. Hancock of the Ogden Og-den high Hchool has been assigned to tho Targhee forest, Idaho, and Forester For-ester Joseph E. Willie wll havo charge of the work In MautI foresL Other assignments will bo made In tho near future. |
