Chalmers, assistant superintendent superin-tendent of the Oregon Short Line, issued is-sued a statemont today in which he says that the work of ballasting tho twenty-one-mile strip of double track between Ogden and Farralngton will be started next Monday. The doublo track from Farmington to Salt Lake has been ballasted, and the probability probabil-ity is that the twenty-one-milo strentch will bo completed within GO days. The curves in the double tracking havo been reduced from what was previously a maximum of seven-tenths of one per cent curve to fivo-tenths 1 of one per cenL This will make It possible for the Oregon Short Line to 1 reduce Its present 45-minute schedule between Ogden and Salt Lake. Mr. Chalmers says it is improbable that the gasoline motor service will be Increased during tho summer season. sea-son. He Intimates that tho gasoline cars are giving good satisfaction, and prodicts that somo day they will bo used to handle tho local passenger business on many of the other big railroads. 00 |
