Show RICH COPPER ORE IS IN YERINGTON. Word has been received by the Salt lake officials of the Now Ycrington Copper company that a discovery of copper ore of the utmost Importance has been made. On tho 250-foot level a body of high grade shipping copper re is exposed for a width of 34 inches, S Inches of which are composed of copper glace which carries anywhere from 40 to CO per cent red metal. A car of this ore has been extracted and will be forwarded to the Mason Valley custom smelter within tho next few days, the smelter being within a short distance of the mine There crosses tho New Yerlngton territory a gigantic diorite dike which as far as known has two good veins, one on each side. The management heretofore has confined its operations to tho south vein, never having reached reach-ed tho south vein, although some time ago on the 400-foot level of tho northernmost north-ernmost workings tl(c dihe was crosscut cross-cut for 60 feet. The new work is being be-ing done on and near the south vein, and tho ore just encountered, therefore, there-fore, is something absoultcly virgin. The management has drifted In the vein for 15 feet to date, and it appears ap-pears to be the principal sourco from whicli results are to be expected. It piomises to afford sufficient ores to supply abundant slnewB of war for tho further development of the group, and tho local officials naturally arc jubilant over this good news. The New Yerlngton Copper company com-pany was organized a few months ago for tho purpose of taking over the assets of tho Yerlngton Copper company, com-pany, which latter company was organized or-ganized by Salt Lake interests during the Initial boom at the Mason district dis-trict This district is also the home of the Mason Valley and the Nevada Douglas properties, and this new discovery dis-covery demonstrates the further mineralization min-eralization of a district which has been only Imperfectly scratched as yet for ore deposits. The New Yerlngton Yerlng-ton is especially fortunate at this time in having ample smelting facilities facili-ties right at Its pront door. Tho company is controlled by prominent Salt Lake capitalists. |
