In fact she was moBt extraordinary. Sho had been In tho possession of the Charlton youngsters Just long enough to become a favorite. Nellie was well treated and fed all tho delicacies from1 the family- table by baby hands. In return she displayed dis-played a sagacity and loyalty that were remarkable. Friday morning when tho three children went to tho stable to glvo Nellio her customary breakfast of hot meal and milk, to their grief and dismay dis-may the pet was discovered dead. Nellie's throat had been torntS' shredB by tho teoth of a coyote and her body sucked dry of blood. After tho first shock had worn off the children chil-dren decided, that Nellie should have a funeral befitting her pure and unselfish un-selfish life. Tender hnnds bore the remains to the grave. A line calf owned by one of Mr. Charlton's neighbors was killed Mondny night, while sundry chickens havo disappeared In a moBt mysterious mysteri-ous manner.
