The first meeting of th,e 'Pan-American Society of the United States, the organization of which is nearly perfected, will bo held in New York probably within the next 10 days. Tho purpose of the organization is to show hospltal-itv hospltal-itv and social attention to distinguished distin-guished Latin-Americans visiting the United SUites and in ways other than political and i commercial to develop better acquaintance between North and South America. Director General Barrott of the PaiirAmerican uuion, is chairman of the committee that is drafting the by-laws. Henry White, former American ambassador to France, and Cholrman of tho United States delegation to the Buenoa Ayves conference, probably prob-ably will bo 'chosen president, while on tho executive committee will be Andrew Carnegie, Lloyd Griscom. formor ambasoador to Brazil; ljwis Nixsoii, John Barrett, James Sprier, Frank Vanderlip of New York, Archer M. Huntington, president of tho Hispanic society, and Dr. U S. Jtowe, of the Unlvorslty of Pennsylvania, Pennsyl-vania, an authority .on matters pertaining per-taining to Latin-America. - - |
