Show "GET ACQUAINTED" VISITORS. i prominent citizen of Ogden, who was at the "Weber club reception re-ception 'to the "get acquainted'' officials of the Oregon Short Line , Wednesday night, said lie enjoyed tbe candid way in which the business men of Ogden registered their just complaints and made plain to the railroad men that this city felt it had grievances demanding de-manding the attention of their guests. "Why, look at Salt Lake." he said. "There they have a passenger pass-enger depot in which the travelers who seek its accommodations are ' so few as to remind one of peas in a baby's rattle, while in Ogden the waiting room of the depot is so small it is overcrowded half a do.cn times a day, and women with children in their arms are often forced to stand because of the lack of seating capacity." This gentleman made three trips to Salt Lake last week. lie counted 19 persons m the depot at one time. J 7 at another time and 23 on his last trip there. On returning to Ogden, each time he found the waiting room at tho I'nion depot overcrowded. This is quoted as proving that it is well for the Oregon Short Line officials to get out on these "get acquainted" journeys, as eventually their horizon will be broadened and they will see a, greater need for massive, commodious buildings elsewhere than in the village of skyscrapers, which, they have been taught to believe, marks the bounds of the universe. |
