Show IGOieMS ILL ILDGOIfEREiCE SPRING LAKE, N. 'j., Aug. 23. Plans for the annual conference of governors of the states of the union to be held here September 12 to 16, were made public today. Employers' liability, the inheritance tax, fixiug of interstate rates and public pub-lic utilities and prison labor will be discussed. It is expected that 37 governors gov-ernors will attend. Two notable absentees ab-sentees Governor Johnson of California Califor-nia and Ebcrhart of Minnesota will be detained at home by state business. busi-ness. On the opening day Governor Wood-row Wood-row Wilson will make an address jf welcome, to which Governor Joseph M. Carey of Wyoming will respond. Gov-crnor Gov-crnor Augustus E. Wlllson of Kentucky Ken-tucky will make the opening address on "Possibilities of the Governor's Conference," and Governor Edwin L. Norris of Montana and Governor Em mott O Neal of Alabama will speak on "Strengthening the Power of Executives." Execu-tives." In the evening Governor and Mrs. Wilson will hold a reception. Had-ley Had-ley of Missouri -and Chester H. Al-dfich Al-dfich of Nebraska. All day Friday will be given to "Stato Control of Public Utilities," the principal addresses being those of Governors Francis E. McGovern of Wisconsin and Beryl F. Carroll of Iowa. Saturday morning Governors Oswald West of Oregon and Chase S. Osborn of Michigan will talk on "Problems of Prison Labor " The conference will adjourn at noon on Saturday. oo |
