Show H GLENW00D PARK FOR THE CHILDREN. H Tho mayor, having obtained Glenwood Park with the object in H cw 0f having the city make the park a children's pleasure ground, H presented tho proposition to the city council Monday night. H Tho park cost $9,000 and contains 10 to 13 acres. It is optional Hl ;vith the city to accept or reject the offer. H While $9,000 is not a large expenditure for the city to make in H behalf of the children, still this amount is but part of what would be H required to convert Glenwood into suitable play grounds. Perhaps H 25,000 to $30,000 would be expended before the park could bo con- H rerted into a place for tho little ones to enjoy themselves in their H ' 3paro moments. The city councilraen, in dealing with this subject, H should bear in mind that the first investment is only a fraction of the H probable outlay and they must carefully consider whether the finan. Hl -ees of the city will permit of such expenditures. H There is no doubt as to the good to come from a children's play H ground where the young people would be free to onjoy themselves to H the limit, under the guidance of watcliful eyes, but it is possible there Hj are more urgent demands for the city's monoy. That is for the coun- H rilmen to decide. |
