Show HiNE CORPS HAS FOIL QUOTA No more men will be recruited for the United States marine service at this or any other station of tho Salt Lake district, according to an Older re-colved re-colved by Soigeant II. M. Johnson, in charge of the Ogdon station, yesterday yester-day morning. The reason for this as staled by Officer Of-ficer Johnson Is that tho iuariu corpH Is full and thoro is no need of further recruits. At the first of tin year thero were only 28 vacancies and these, as well as evory othor possible vacancy In the soivlce has boon filled Tho stations effected by tho order sent out from headquarters at Salt Lako yesterday Include Pueblo and Denver, Colo.; Helena, Mont., and several sev-eral other stations in tho intorraoun-tain intorraoun-tain country. , Sorgennt Johnson believes that thero is no Intention to clotBC the recruiting re-cruiting stations for the marine corps, and If such Is the case he fecls confident con-fident that tho Ogden station avIU be the last to be closed owing to tlie fact that all rfcniltR arc sent to Qgrieu and kept over night by the local recruiting re-cruiting ofticer in order that they may leave on the oarly morning Southern Pacific train, thus arriving- at San Francisco In the day time. Tho Ogden station has furnished the government with its share of marine ma-rine rocrults, the number averaging about ten per month. This is about the average for the district, in spite of tho fact that practically all ot the other stations arc located in larger cities than Ogden. , nn. |
