Show ARC LIGHTS READY TO SHINE Officers of tho Merchants' Light & Power company state that they have completed their trunk lines for the furnishing of arc lights for the city a month earlier than was provided for In their contract with the ciu. When the company secured the contract con-tract for furnishing arc lights they were given until September 27 to install in-stall a system, but it was expressed at the time bv some of the council-men council-men that it would be impossible for the company to accomplish that, it being freely stated that an extension of time might have to be gh-en, but V 1...SI.1C 1 - i .. me uuiiuuii; nui jjune on rapiaiy ana the arc lights are in place nnd the lines aro connected with a plant. The test during the past two weeks has proved the plant to be in good condition and ready for the regular Service. Tonight Is the last night that the arcs will be tested during tho entire night, this being the third night that the lights have been on all the time. Tho time for the beginning of the new lighting will bo determined bv the council and tho mayor next Men-day Men-day night. The contract with the Utah Light & Railway company has terminated nnd the city is at liberty to negotiate with the new company at any time. The local company states that a network of commercial and residence wires' will soon be strung and that contracts for other than city lighting will be entered Into at an early date. |
