Show Farmers Urged To List Needs Farmers and county agricultur al agents are urged to estimate their rotenone needs for cattle grub control and to place orders with chemical dealers immediately, so that control of this serious pest will he possible this winter, Dr. George F. Knowlton, Utah extension entomologist declared Tuesday. Rotenone. so useful in cattle grub and garden insect control, is a product of tropical areas and is shipped into the United States largely from the East Indies and Central America, he explained. Imports have been greatly reduced re-duced during the war and adequate ade-quate supplies for all uses are not antcipated before 1947. This explains ex-plains need for early purchase of cattle grub dusts. Many Utah dairy and livestock men have found, during the past season, that a little effort in, cattle cat-tle grub control by means of a rotenone dust or spray will increase in-crease the milk supply, increase growth rate of young cattle, and eliminate dockase due to grubs in the. back when livestock are shipped to market, Dr. Knowlton pointed out. Further information on rotenone use may be obtained from any county agent. |
