Show Truck Operators Must Have Tires Inspected Farm truck operators in Cache county must act rapidly to get tire inspections certified on the backs of revised certificates of war necessity before January 15, Al-phonso Al-phonso Christensen of Newton, chairman of the county farm transportation committee, warned Monday. Like other county transportation committees in Utah which have been rushed ever since their organization, or-ganization, the Cache committee is having a difficult time meeting its share of the new responsibility before the deadline, Mr. Christensen Christen-sen admitted. The office of Defense transportation transpor-tation requires that tire inspections inspec-tions on all trucks must be made by January 15 and be certified on the back of the supplemental cer- tificate of . war necessity issued to farm truckers who successfully appeal ap-peal for supplemental gasoline and not on the original certificate. Swamped with appeals for sup-lementary,.. sup-lementary,.. certificates, ..the committee com-mittee is required to pass upon them and send recommendations to the ODT office in Salt Lake City by January 10, Mr. Christensen Christen-sen said. "Farm truck operators who must apply for supplemental certificates should file their appeals with our committee immediately," he said, "and we will try out best to act on them in time." To illustrate the scope of the problem and the apparent speed with which some original certificates certifi-cates were issued, committee members mem-bers cited examples of some farmers farm-ers receiving sizeable allotments of gasoline for first quarter operations oper-ations but none whatever for the remaining three quarters, though farm operations generally are lightest during the first quarter nf the vear. |
