Show PARKINSON ENROLLS AT UTAHSTATE Aggie Football Stock takes Sudden Jump as Stanford Frosh Ace Transfers here Was Former North Cache All-State Star. As spring football practice is about to get underway, y hopes for the Utah Aggie team jumped approximately 1,000 per cent when it was announced that Cannon Parkinson, one of the; finest athletes ever developed in northern Utah had enrolled at Utah State. The former North Cache star, developed by Coach Hebe Witing, enrolled at Stanford last fall under Clark Shaushnessy, after a brilliant high school career that netted him all state recognition for two years. After graduation last spring, Parkinson was signed by Shaugh- nessy while he was conducting the Aggie summer coaching school. He gained no little prominence prom-inence as co-captain and quarterback quarter-back of the Stanford frosh squad last fall. Press releases from the coast were loud in their praise of his passing, running and punting to say nothing of his natural ability to "call 'em." Confirmation that the brilliant North Cache lad had .transferred from Stanford to the USAC was made Monday by his father, G. S. Parkinson of Smithfield. Due to war conditions which resulted in financial decrease, he was unable to keep "Parky" at the coast school. Well schooled in the "T" formation for-mation as advocated and taught by Coach Dick Romney, he was a welcomed addition tp the squad. Extremely sincere in his ath- letic endeavors, his brilliant play and leadership enabled him to win "almost singlehanded" a number of games during his high school career. He is enrolled in the school Of engineering. |
