Show A Sad Accident During the past fe.v months the people peo-ple of Manti have borne many sorrows The number ot accidents have been appalling, ap-palling, some of them ending fatally, but saddest occurrence of all was .the accident acci-dent that happened about 4 o'clock Tuesday afcernoon in which Jacob Keller Kel-ler lost his life. Mi. Keller was hauling hay and while driving over a ditch a portion of the load on which the unfortunale man was seated slipped from beneath him and he fell backward off the load, striking his head on the hardgiound he was rendered render-ed unconscious. Help was secured aftd the injured man was taken to his home where everything possible was done lor him by his family. Dr. Hosiord .was sent for but was out-of town. A message mes-sage was sent to Ephraim for Dr. Olsten but that gentleman was also, absent and tnen ur. rtuen 01 ait. neaui a icic-graphed icic-graphed for, and he arrived about 10 p. m. In the meantime Mrs. Hosiord done all in her power to restore the unfortunate unfor-tunate man to consciousness, but her efforts were of no avml. When Dr. Allen arrived he at once made a examination of patient and learned that back ot head immediately behind the right ear, was crushed, also that the neck had been wrenched and that the ball of the right eye was crushed. crush-ed. He slept quite naturally a part of the night and at times it was hoped that he would recover. At 5 o'clock Wednesday Wed-nesday morning he sank into a stuper, and remained in that state till he passed away. From 5 a. m. he appeared to be breathing regularly and naturally till 12 o'clock when breathing suddenly ceased, ahd without a quiver of the body the soul of Jacob Keller departed from this life and passed into a brighter, better world to be received with gloiy by its maker. Death, when it came was almost painless. Brother Keller was well known throughout the county, and was honoied and respected bv all. He was a kind, loving and affectionate husband and father, an honorable and upright man, and by his death the community sustain a great and severe loss. He was 55 years of age and died as he lived a true Latter-day Saint. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his departure. They have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad hour of trouble. ' The funeral services were held in the Tabernacle at 2 o'clock vesterday afternoon. after-noon. The services were simple and impressive, and the speakers dwelt upon the many good qualities of the deceased, and spoke words of consolation and com-lort com-lort to the griet-striken family. At the conclusion of the services the funeral procession pro-cession formed and a long line of cai-riages cai-riages filled with friends and relatives of the deceased followed the remains to the cemetary where tbev weie interred in their last resting place. |
