Show northern utah organizations getting behind move to improve weber canyon road chances for Improver improvement rient ot of V U S highway 30 S through weber canyon appeared brighter Tue tuesday day with civic groups ot of northern nort herni utah making a concerted effort to secure funds tor for this project in conversation with officials of th the associated civic clubs of northern utah the morgan county news learned that the executive committee met tuesday in brigham city and urged immediate action on arri improvement p ro of khlil highway through morgan county funds are available it was determined tem ter dried mined from monies allocated to washington county but which have hae been withheld due to an altercation in thit that ahei area as to highway location this fund totals approximately rosi C bowen associated civic clubs secretary slated that aletter ls being sent to the state road commission urging argine that this money be used in weber canyon he reported that officials of the ogden chamber of commerce and weber county of ficiala are also behind the plan of improving this highway mr bowen also stated that a delegation from morgan weber and box elder counties plans to meet with the road commission at an early date the highway in question is a vital transportation link for northern utah it is the main heavy trucking route into the state due to the fact that there are arc no long grades which are prevalent on all other roads leading into the valleys no major improvements have been made on the weber canyon route for many years and as a result of heavy bus and truck traffic the road is continually in need of repairs and patching many of the curves should be eliminated and the thorofare thoro fare should be widened all along the route to thus provide an adequate highway for both truck and passenger travel into n the northern part of the st state at e |
