Show flower show Is huge success despite a heavy rain storm sunday morning which caused some m moments of anxiety for officers of t the h e morgan valley garden club the flower show held in the elementary school playroom was a big success many entries were made and approximately guests called during the afternoon to view the beautiful floral exhibits sweepstakes winner was ella hemming who won with the most outstanding individual entry an unusual cacti arrangement jessie creager won first place on points jos whittler second and maxine whittier third jay whittier won the junior award honorable mention went to mrs dark clark wright tor for her variety of display and to mrs eva jensen a close runner up most spectacular of all exhibits was the gladioli entry of 0 the jos whittier family however table settings were interesting as were a number of artistic weed and miniature exhibits judges were fred augsburger president of 0 the state federation of garden clubs and also precedent pre of the state florist association rufus ray member of salt lake county fair board and george soffe a well known gladioli fancler fancier I 1 41 the judges all from salt lake complimented the club on the tine fine show during the afternoon a series of musical numbers were presented by students of miss ada waldron the refreshment table presided over by mrs carma carina newbold was attractively decorated and added another note of interest and color to the show next meeting of the morgan valley garden club will be held monday night in the As ag room at the 1 high agh school at 8 pm this meeting should be of interest as mr ray will be present to give advice and instruction to those who plan to exhibit flowers in county and state fairs everyone is invited to attend this meeting to receive these hints for exhibiting flowers on fair days august 29 and 30 flowers and containers to be used by mr ray in his demonstration must be furnished by club members |
