| Show TIME FOR FRIED CHICKEN the people are awakening to the fact that the power to tax is the power to destroy D national lat ional defense is the excuse now used in washington to cover its glaring increase in federal expenditures for all manner maimer of political projects the taxation chickens are coming home to roost on the doorstep of the taxpayers and they are squawking for more and more feed the tax dollars states and the federal government are still trying to feed their pet chickens on war rations of waste and extravagance few attempts are being made in political circles to clean out any of the chicken houses and dispose of the overgrown hens two exceptions that we have noticed are utah and california in our own state gov J bracken lee despite the criticism of some is doing his best to cut expenditures in state government and still maintain a sound economy california recently voted out a misfit old age pension scheme which was a super charity racket the national administration is still too cocky to pay any attention to the taxpayers although it is by far the worst offender in taking the citizens earnings it has asked for larger and larger budgets each year since the war and unblushingly suggests tax increases instead of making any honest effort to cut extravagance and waste only the people by showing their resentment of bureaucratic waste can save themselves from increasing deprivations at the hands of the political money jugglers |
