| Show officials on bus trip return home morgan county officials involved in vi a bustruck bus truck accident near wilbur ivash wash july 26 returned to their homes liere here sunday evening telling of the miraculous escape from injury of all passengers on the chartered bus with the exception of one person seriously injured in the crash was mark johnson millard county commissioner who suffered the 10 loss ss of both legs in the accident included as passengers of the ill fated bus were mrs anna sommers mr air and mrs A R turner and horald G dark clark they were returning from a convention of the national association of county officials held in oakland calif with a post convention tour through the northwest in telling of the accident mr dark clark stated that the crash occurred as the bus driver was attempting to pass a large empty wheat truck the bus struck the left rear end of the truck when the truck derived pulled his vehicle to the left in front of the oncoming chartered machine the bus remained upright and continued up the highway for feet where it was brought to a halt while the truck crossed the highway and overturned in a field had the bus failed to stay on the highway and overturned down the 15 foot embankment at the side many passengers would surely have been injured mr aar dark clark said the truck driver was not hurt mr air johnson was standing on the second step of the bus entrance at the time of the crash and mr air turner was standing just to his left the millard county commissioner was injured when the front of the metal bus was rammed in in on the right side mr air dark clark was seated in the aisle seat immediately behind the driver the bus operated by lewis bros of salt lake city was driven on to spokane and another bus was dispatched from salt lake to pick up the passengers |
